Khao Yai National Park by Sopacha Adireksarn

It was an exciting 2-day trip to Khao Yai National Park. The excitement began on the first afternoon while we were on our way to see gaurs in their habitat at Wang Nam Kheo, part of the national park. Suddenly we spotted one smooth-coated otter coming up from a lake near the road so we parked our car on the roadside to see what would happen next. A few minutes later 4 more otters emerged from the water and joined the first otter on the shore. It was thrilling to see one of them carrying a large fish in its mouth and crossed a local dirt road heading to a nearby forest followed by the four members of its family. I was delighted to catch their movement with my iphone especially the one with the fish in its mouth. It was my first sighting of the smooth-coated otter, not one but five otters!
